Cycling and camping from baby till 7 years (3).

Picnic and changing the diapers.

Trips with one child in the basket.

Which of the parents has the strongest arms, takes the child on the back. Because believe me, a moving weight of 10 to 20 kg is quite different from 20 kg neatly wrapped up luggage.
"Daddy look" and she wants to look past you, which means quite a jerk on the balance.
Then the luggage is no problem yet. We both have front wheel and handlebar bags, at the back normal and on the basket carrier a single bicycle bag, and than even the camping equipment (lightweight of course) can be stowed away. These few small clothes can be tugged away somewhere.
But these diapers! They sell them in such large packets, but you can hang them on the back of the basket this voluminous stuff. Toys are hardly necessary, they enjoy themselves excellently by looking around (including comments), picked up acorns, boiling spinach soup in a brook or vacuum cleaning the forest with a branch.

Two children on the back of the bike.

Two children, two baskets. Where to put all the luggage then? We were amazed ourselves that we still got everything on our bikes. Except the plates and the mugs we didn't have to add anything to the camping gear: we still fitted in a 2 person tent and under one sleeping bag.
The whole equipment is based on small volume. Towels are of course small guest towels. The toiletry bag was just a nylon bag with travel toothbrushes a sample shampoo and the smallest size soap box.
Use all forgotten holes. Between the baskets and half way under the saddle there you can stow away a small holdall or a bag with tools, coats, tent stuff or anything else. A spare tyre, rolled up, can, if necessary, be put under the handlebar bag, (which is then also a kind of shock absorber for a camera). On the back of a basket hangs the sleeping bag, the other basket carries the karrimats. Handy is a small foldable rucksack used as a sack with buns or other shoppings to carry it with you on your back just as far as the picnic. Milk cartons and the like can be placed shortly on the bottom of the basket, up to when you are going to consume it.
